As a significant contributor to the American culture and character, Rural Heritage is experiencing a renaissance across the nation. Its healthy living, independent spirit, and community support have come to represent the American Spirit. It is something we all want to reconnect with and to share with our next generation.
At present, however, our living rural heritage is rapidly disappearing under increasing pressures from urban sprawl. The rural legacy and traditions are being lost with the last generation of family farmers, ranchers and pioneers.
However the Island and Village of Geneva represents a vibrant community that carries on a living rural heritage for over 150 years. Through all the economic booms and busts of Florida, Geneva has stood strong for generations celebrating a chosen lifestyle that few can thrive within successfully.
